On Wednesday 13 March 2013, together with two fellow Masterchef NZ contestants Vanessa and Serena, we were invited to cook for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Auckland.
Prepping and cooking for 120 people was quite a challenge but with the support of some helpers we managed to serve tuna fish cakes with coriander, lemon and garlic, noodle and vegetable salad and apple strudel with vanilla ice cream.
Not only did we have a great time but it was fantastic to see how well received and appreciated our dinner was by the kids and their parents as well as the dedicated staff of Ronald McDonald’s House. There were a lot of curious questions and plenty of photo opportunities for the young patients some of them very keen Masterchef followers. The most rewarding moments of the evening were the smiles on the faces and the fact that we were able to bring a bit of fun in their hard everyday life at the hospital. What a great experience for us and hopefully a day to remember for the families as well! Thank you for the support by the wonderful staff and we hope to see you again!
